  • Neurologist, ED physician and stroke team first assess the patient and key decisions are made.

ALTEPLASE PRE-MIXING

5-15 Mins
  • Stringent screening process identifies patients most likely to be suffering an ischemic stroke.
  • Alteplase can be mixed and ready to administer as soon as CT results are known.

MOBILE MIXING

  • Bedside nurse or pharmacist prepares alteplase directly at the bedside from stroke box containing all necessary items for mixing and administration of alteplase.

TREAT IN CT

  • Bring camera to CT control room.
  • Alteplase bolus and drip are started as soon as non-contrast head CT is read as negative.
  • Advanced imaging, if needed, is then continued.
